Borosilicate glass is a high quality glass, more solid and impact resistant than ordinary glass (sodocalcique glass). After being cooked a second time, it can take high and low temperatures and can resist to thermic shocks too. It’s usually being used in laboratories or to make cooking material (like Pyrex). Working with this type of glass is very different because you need to heat it at a much higher temperature. It allows to create very thin objets that are solid.
About Ulysse Sauvage
After studying art, Margot got interested in glass craftmanship. After a certification in scientific glass blowing and a year practicing in a company, she started Ulysse Sauvage in 2020. Her work questions the boundaries and the codes of borosilicate glass, usually used for scientific material. Today she’s settled in Paris where she makes everyday life objects.
