The AVase is an O.V.N.I (object, valued, natural and innovative) that ticks all the boxes important to Amélie, a tribute to her crocodile signature bag, the Abag, created 10 years ago.

Modelled by Bold, it’s made of clay thanks to a 3D printer in Crest in the Drôme region. The enamelling is the result of a traditional formula developed by the Cliousclat factory.

    Finish in enamelled clay.

True to her ambition to offer objects for the home, Amélie Pichard develops her first vase, but not any vase and not in any way. Building bridges between innovation and tradition is still more than ever the cornerstone of Amélie’s approach. Printing and cooking process The clay has to be prepared and shaped so that it fits in a steal tube. This tube is the cartridge of the printer. An engine pushes onto a piston which makes the clay come out through a thiner tube in order to create a perfect roll of 5mm of diameter. The printing speed and the flow of clay is set up before starting the work. Three layers are printed for the bottom of the vase, then the side panels appear slowly. The visible layers are part of the aesthetic signature of the 3D printing process. Once printed, the vases are covered to slowly dry for a few days so that they don’t get distorted or misshaped. Once they are dry, the vases are placed in an oven for an initial cooking at 980°C. This cooking will give what we call a “biscuit”. They are then taken to the Cliousclat Factory, a few kilometres away from the Fablab in order to be enamelled and cooked a second time at a higher temperature. During this final phase, the enamel melts to give a shiny aspect to the vases and allows them to be waterproof.
